Crocus Cricket is an Academy initiative designed to encourage children with special educational needs and disabilities to become involved in cricket. It is led by Kevin Duers who has been specially trained for this role and he is supported by Mark Hughes.
The programme is supported by Essex Cricket, Sport England and The Uttlesford Sports Partnership - all of whom have provided grant funding for the programme.
Each of the local secondary schools have their own taster programmes and those wishing to take their cricket further are able to take part in the Academy Winter Programme. Crocus Cricket sessions run from 5-6pm every other Friday. There are only 6 clubs in Essex involved with this programme and with the help of Essex Cricket it is planned to organise inter-club matches in the summer.
