Congratulations to the 1sts, back in the EAPL!

Posted by Alison Mable on 23 September 2018

Congratulations to the 1st XI, whose win over Norwich on 22nd September secures their promotion to the East Anglian Premier League.

It rained and it rained, but the cricket went on! Norwich reached 156 runs for 46 overs, and the teams took a long lunch break while everyone contemplated the weather. Eventually the match was back on, SWCC aiming for a revised total of 142 runs in 40 overs. Spectacular batting from Giles Ecclestone (85 runs) played a key role in SWCC's performance. Emotions ran high as they reached 144 for 26.2 overs - and Saffron Walden are back in the East Anglian Premier League.

Well done, everyone concerned!
