The Young Leaders Programme is for 14-16 year olds and is made up of 5 modules, which are a combination of leadership and life skills: Activator coaching module Umpiring and Scoring Groundskeeping First Aid Fundraising Each young leader, with their parent or guardian, signs a pledge committing to completing the training (a total of 16 hours). Saffron Walden Cricket Club has successfully been re-accredited under the ECB Clubmark scheme. To get this accreditaion, we had to demonstrate that we have appropriate safety procedures, DBS-checked and trained coaches and managers, insurance, management structures, proper accounting and so on. But we also had to demonstrate that we are diverse and inclusive, listening to our members and sharing information with them, working with schools and other sports organisations and generally being welcoming, supportive and committed. Congratulations to the 1st XI, whose win over Norwich on 22nd September secures their promotion to the East Anglian Premier League. It rained and it rained, but the cricket went on! Norwich reached 156 runs for 46 overs, and the teams took a long lunch break while everyone contemplated the weather. ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup Saffron Walden will be hosting one of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier matches (division 2) on Monday 6th August at the Anglo American Playing Fields.
