Congratulations to John Read who has been awarded the 2009 Jack Petchey Leader Award for SWCC. John has been with the Academy since the beginning and he continues to
serve the club in many and varied ways. Well done John and a big thank you.
Sad News SWCC is sad to report the death of Margaret Hammond. Margaret was a respected local teacher and artist. She produced the wonderful watercolours of the Anglo
American Playing Fields as a contribution to our 150th anniversary celebration (see below). Her husband, John, was a prominent member of the Club including taking on the role of
1st. XI captain. Son, Ian, is the only player in the history of the club to score a century for all three senior teams in the same season. Daughter Claire often acted as scorer and
Margaret made teas.
