Do you already play football, hockey or netball? Would you like to give cricket a try?

Saffron Walden Cricket Club is looking for more girls to play cricket – all welcome from age 4 up.

We welcome players at all levels, from beginners to experienced players. We offer girls of all abilities the chance to participate in cricket as fun and as competition, and to work towards adult cricket – we have a team for women and older girls which competes with other clubs in the region. This year we will also be running an “Emerging Players” squad for girls with potential for more competitive cricket.

Girls are welcome to train in the all-girls group or a mixed group – there are training opportunities on Thursday evenings (girls of all ages above 8) or Sunday mornings (mixed training, under 10 and below).  Training is with our experienced coaches, and some will have the chance to train with visiting international cricketers.

There is often a girls’ softball tournament during the summer

Girl Guides can work towards the “Smashing Boundaries” badge, developed by Anglia Guides and Essex Cricket

Girls aged 14 to 16 can join our “Young Leaders” volunteering scheme, which builds leadership and life skills and counts towards Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Saffron Walden Cricket Club has been given Girls’ Cricket Hub Status by Essex County Cricket Board, and will be working with other clubs and schools to promote girls’ cricket.
