Our main ground, and clubhouse, are at the Anglo American Playing Fields, Catons Lane, Saffron Walden, CB10 2DU

From Thaxted Road go straight over the East Street traffic lights, up the side of the common. At the T junction, turn left and follow the road to a mini-roundabout. Turn right and follow the road; ignore the first left just after the castle, but then take the next left hand turn, Catons Lane. Follow the road down to the Catons Lane football club car park and then turn left through the car park following the track to the cricket club.

From Newport follow the main road into the town, down the high street to the traffic lights at the bottom. Turn right and follow the one way system until you come to a mini-roundabout. Turn left and follow the road with the common on your right hand side. Go across the mini-roundabout, then turn left. Follow the road down to the Catons Lane football club car park and then turn left through the car park following the track to the cricket club.

From the North on the B184 (Windmill Hill) take the first turning on the left after the Eight Bells pub. This will take you into Castle Street (note 20mph limit). At the end of the street, turn left onto Little Walden Road, and then quickly left again. Follow the road down to the Catons Lane football club car park and then turn left through the car park following the track to the cricket club.

Saffron Walden County High School CB11 4UH

From the south and the M11, come off the M11 at the Bishops Stortford junction, go round the top of Bishops Stortford and take the B1383 north; go through Newport on the B1383 and about a mile after Newport, turn right at the roundabout, following the signs to Saffron Walden.  Travel about 2 miles up a hill then down into Saffron Walden.  Turn left at the first mini-roundabout.  The school is on the left; ignore the first turning, but turn into the main entrance at the top of the hill 200m further on.  Turn right through the car park and follow the road around the back of the school – the cricket pavilion and car park are at the end of that road.

From Thaxted direction: turn left at the mini-roundabout as you enter Saffron Walden, and follow the road, going straight across a mini-roundabout and a crossroads until you get to another mini-roundabout; turn left and then right at the mini-roundabout immediately after.  Take the first left, Copperfields, and then right straight after, which takes you into the sports hall car park; go to the left of the sports hall and the road takes you round the back of the sports hall; keep going and you’ll see the cricket pavilion – parking is next to the pavilion.  If the directions fail, the postcode is CB11 4UH.

From the north, [From Cambridge, come off the M11 at junction 10, turn left at the roundabout and follow the A505 for a mile; turn right at the roundabout, down the A1301; after about 2 miles go across the A11/M11 south roundabout and turn right onto the B1383 at the next roundabout, and carry on through]approach from Great Chesterford and Littlebury to avoid the town centre.  Pass Audley End House on the left and turn left immediately after.  After one mile, turn right into the main school entrance, at top of a slight hill.  Turn right through the car park and follow the road around the back of the school – the cricket pavilion and car park are at the end of that road.

Ashdon – Waltons Park CB10 2JD

From Saffron Walden, drive through Asdhon village continuing on past The Rose and Crown pub.  Take the right turn signposted to Haverhill.  200m on the left a flint wall begins, 50m along there is a narrow gap in the wall that leads to the ground.

From Haverhill or Cambridge on the A1307 take the turn to Bartlow and The Camps.  At the cross roads take the road to Ashdon.  As you enter the village take the left turn to Haverhill. 200m on the left a flint wall begins, 50m along there is a narrow gap in the wall that leads to the ground.

Aythorpe Roding

The ground is at The Recreation Ground, Round Bush Green, Aythorpe Roding CM6 1PT.  Aythorpe Roding is after High Roding coming from Saffron Walden. Drive through Dunmow and as you are coming out towards the south, you will see a turning on the right sign-posted to Ongar and / or High Roding (and the road is the B184).  Follow this road for about 5 miles, passing through High Roding until you enter Aythorpe Roding.  Once in the 40mph zone, you’ll see the Village Hall then Windmill Meadows on your right; 50 yards after Windmill Meadows turn right on to the unadopted track that leads to the recreation ground.

Cambourne (Lower Cambourne Ground)

The ground is at The Green, Woodfield Lane, Lower Cambourne, CB23 6FD.  From Saffron Walden, take the M11 to Junction 13, and head west on the A1303, which then merges into the A428; after about 4 miles, take the slip road (if you get to the junction with the A1198 you’ve gone too far!), sign-posted Cambourne (Great and Lower possibly); take the first left at the roundabout and then straight across the next roundabout, which takes you into Great Cambourne.  Go on until a T-junction (with a large Morrisons on the left); turn right and follow the road round until you see the cricket ground on the right; access to parking is at the further end of the ground, so turn right just after the ground and park behind the pavilion.

Cambridge Granta – Clare College ground

The ground is at Bentley Road, Cambridge CB2 8AW, just off Trumpington Road.  Go into Cambridge along the Trumpington Road, through the junction with Long Road, which leads off to the right; carrying straight on, Bentley Road is the third turning on the right; go right down to the end of Bentley Road and you’ll drive into the cricket ground.

Cambridge St Giles – Dry Drayton ground

The ground is at Dry Drayton, address “driveway next to Solway”, Scotland Road, Dry Drayton CB23 8BX.  Go up the M11; either get off at junction 13, turn left onto the A1303, continue onto the A428 and at the next exit come off the A428, turn right along Scotland Road which comes straight into Dry Drayton; the ground is the first turning on the right, about 100yds into the village; if you get to the mini-roundabout you’ve gone too far!  Alternatively keep going to the end of the M11 and onto the A14, get off at the first exit (junction 30), turn  left and head down Oakington Road into Dry Drayton

Dunmow

St Edmunds Lane Gt Dunmow Essex CM6 3AT

Coming from Saffron Walden/Thaxted, follow the B184 to Great Dunmow.  As you enter the town you will pass Helena Romanes School on your right hand side and will start to go downhill. At the bottom of the hill take a left signposted Bardfield and Finchingfield. Take this road down the hill passing the Angel & Harp Pub, Take the next right into St Edmunds Lane, the Cricket Club is on your right hand side at the end of the lane. To park, turn right at the T junction (the cricket club will still be on your right), turn next right (next to the bridge – easily identifiable by the white railings) into the car park which then has walkthrough access to the ground.

High Roding

The ground is The Meadow, Dunmow Road, High Roding – CM3 1NL for those with satnav.  From Saffron Walden, drive through Dunmow and as you are coming out towards the south, you will see a turning on the right sign-posted to High Roding (and the road is the B184).  Follow this road for about 3 miles until you get to High Roding, and the ground is on the left just before you enter the village – as with most grounds, you’re likely to see the entrance as you drive past it.

Linton Village College

The ground is at Linton Village College (in the school rather than the normal club cricket pitch just outside).  For anyone who hasn’t been before, coming from Saffron Walden, go into Linton via Little Walden and Hadstock (on the B1052), and turn left onto the A1307.  After about 400yds, turn right into the college at the traffic lights on A1307 (there’s a filter lane) and follow drive around school towards sports centre and astro pitches. Park in the car park next to the tennis courts/astro. There is a tarmac path alongside the football pitch that leads to the field behind the conifer hedge. 

Linton Village Recreation Ground

The ground is at Linton Recreation Ground (ie not at the Linton Village College Ground). For anyone who hasn’t been before, coming from Saffron Walden, go into Linton via Little Walden and Hadstock (on the B1052), and turn left onto the A1307.  Almost immediately after, turn right onto Linton High Street (the B1052).  As the High St curves round to the right, take the left hand turning, Meadow Lane, and the ground is on your right shortly after.  Turn onto the recreation ground immediately after the gates and park along the hedge at the furthest end of the ground from the pavilion.

Little Bardfield

From Saffron Walden, go through Thaxted until you get to the petrol station on the right; take the next road on the left (primary school is directly as you turn up that road), which is the Bardfield Road.  Continue up the road, through the traffic calming humps, keep to the right at the junction at the top of the hill and after a few miles you reach Little Bardfield.  The ground is just past two cottages on your right and bang opposite two white cottages. Turn right into the ground.

Rayne

You can go either via Thaxted and Dunmow, or  via Thaxted and Gt Bardfield (passing Lt Bardfield CC) and then either come through Gt Saling or turn off before Saling and come via Shalford Rd.  Assuming you go via Dunmow, go into the Dunmow town centre and turn left at the mini-roundabout, down the Braintree Road; follow this road until you come to the B1256 T-junction – turn left.  Follow the B1256, which runs parallel with the A120, for about 6 miles until you come to a roundabout; take the first turning, which should be signposted to Rayne.  Either way you’ll hit the traffic lights in the village, if you’ve come along the main road and driven over the speed bumps turn right at the lights, if you’ve come along Shalford Rd go straight across the lights. The ground is visible from the road; park in the car park next to the Village Hall.

Royston

The ground is at Thersfield Recreation Ground, Police Row, Thersfield (which is about 3 miles south-west of Royston), SG8 9QG. Directions as follows:

From Saffron Walden, go through Wendens Ambo on the B1039 and keep going until Barley. At Barley, ignore the signs to Royston, go straight on through the village and join the B1368 south to Barkway. Turn right just as you come into Barkway and follow the road through to Reed. Turn right then almost immediately left on the A10 to Therfield; the recreation ground is on the right before you get into the village proper.

Sawston

The ground is at Spicer’s Sports Field, New Road, Sawston.  I don’t have a postcode for Satnav users.  Directions as follows:

Go towards Sawston from Saffron Walden heading north on the A1301.  Cross over the A505 roundabout (by Mac donalds) and turn right about 100 yards after the roundabout following the sign to Sawston.  Follow the road right through Sawston and the ground is on the left immediately after the New Road turning (on the left) and opposite the police station entrance, just before the graveyard.

Stansted

The ground is Hargrave Park, Cambridge Road, Stansted Essex CM24 8BY.  Cambridge Road is the main B1383 through Stansted.  The ground is on the right, about half way between the two petrol stations in Stansted, and just after the entrance to Hargrave House.   Entrance is via Stansted Football Club, which the ground is just behind.

Stansted Hall

Stansted Ground:  Coming from Quendon direction, if you take the first left off the B1383 to Stansted (before the 30mph limit) and carry on until you come to a junction with traffic lights. Turn very sharp left here towards Elsenham. Go past all the parked cars, out of the 30mph limit and you will come to a sweeping left hand bend with a cream coloured house on your right. Immediately after this house turn right down a little track through the woods, turn right again into a horse field and you will come into the ground. Post code CM24 8ST.

Elsenham Ground

Directions to the ground, which is at Henham Road, Elsenham, CM22 6DH as follows:

From Saffron Walden, follow the B1052 out of Saffron Walden towards Newport. Turn left onto the B1383 and continue on through Newport. Stay on the B1383 past the Widdington turning on your left. Take the next left (North Hall Road) signposted Henham/Elsenham. Stay on this road – passing under the single track railway bridge. Follow the signs for Elsenham along Old Mead Road until you reach Elsenham railway crossing. Continue over the crossing keeping to the left along Station Road. At the double mini-roundabout turn left (shops are opposite). Follow the road past The Crown PH on your left, the ground entrance is about 100 yards on your left.

Thaxted

The ground is on the Bardfield Road.  From Saffron Walden, go through Thaxted until you get to the petrol station on the right; take the next road on the left (primary school is directly as you turn up that road), continue up the road, through the traffic calming humps, keep to the right at the junction at the top of the hill and the ground is just a bit further on the right.

Thriplow

Thriplow CC is on Fowlmere Road in Thriplow. From the Duxford War Museum, head along the A505 towards Royston. You will pass a Citroen Garage on your right and then take the next turning on your right which is signposted to Thriplow. Keep on this road, go into Thriplow village and when you come to the T-junction just past the shop, turn left. You will see the The Green Man pub on your left, keep on going about 100 yds, past 3 or 4 bungalows and you will see the cricket ground on your left behind a hedge. If you go past the Thriplow Farms grain dryers, you have gone too far. You can pull into the ground; there is plenty of parking there. For those with satnav, I think the postcode is SG8 7QU, but do sense check it against these directions!

Wendens Ambo CB11 4JY

This is the post code for The Bell at Wenden.  The Ground is next to the Church and you will drive past it on the way to the Bell. 

Coming from Cambridge, come down the B1383 (and ignore any signs for Saffron Walden); once through Littlebury you’ll see Audley End house on your left; about half a mile further on there is a right hand turn (with a right hand turning lane) signposted to Wendens Ambo and Audley End railway station; turn right there; go straight on, over the mini-roundabout and about 100yds past the mini-roundabout you’ll see the ground on your left; there’s a track/road down the far end of the ground and parking is at the bottom.  

Coming from the South, come up the B1383 from Bishops Stortford; come through Newport; go across the roundabout about 1/2mile after Newport (and ignore any signs for Saffron Walden); after about another 1/4mile, there’s a turn on the left, signposted for Wenden Ambo and Audley End railway station; turn left there; go straight on, over the mini-roundabout and about 100yds past the mini-roundabout you’ll see the ground on your left; there’s a track/road down the far end of the ground and parking is at the bottom.  

Whittlesford

Whittlesford CC is in the middle of the village. The address is The Lawn, Whittlesford, CB22 4NG. Coming from Saffron Walden, turn left at the A1301/A505 roundabout, go west along the A505 for about ½ mile then turn right opposite the Volvo depot, signposted ‘Whittlesford’.  Keep on this road for 1 mile into Whittlesford village and you will see the ground on the right on the village green. You can park around the green or you can drive up to the pavilion by turning right onto Mill Lane just before the ground and then left onto The Lawn. You will see the pavilion at the far end.
