Those of you who are players or parents of Academy members will be well aware of the use we make of the Anglo-American Playing Fields. Friday evenings and Sunday mornings in particular are busy with young people being coached and playing cricket. When the sun is shining there is no better place to be. Altogether the ground is used by over 30 teams as well as local schools and, increasingly, Cambridgeshire, as part of their annual Minor Counties campaign.

Whilst the ground is well-looked after by our excellent groundsman, the pressure this puts the playing surface under is significant. We have addressed this in part with the development , in conjunction with the Town Council, of our Nursery End adjacent to the children’s playground which gives another space for junior cricket.

Our next priority is to extend our net practice facility for which we already have planning permission. We have raised £7,500 but need to raise a further £30,000. The trustees of the Club are therefore launching an appeal to raise this sum. With our newly acquired status we are able to reclaim a further 25% of any donation from a UK taxpayer from HMRC.

We are asking our players, supporters and families to consider the value they get from the club and to consider making a donation, large or small, to this appeal. Payments can be made by cash or cheque accompanied by the Gift Aid Form (available HERE). The address of our Treasurer, Peter Hill, to whom the form should be returned, is on the form. An online transfer can also be made;.  Please give your name and “Net Appeal” by way of a reference.
