The season starts with our Club Open Day on Saturday 18 April – 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Anglo American Playing Fields.

It is an opportunity for members to sign on and meet old friends

Gray Palmers will be present to sell new club kit and there will be a second hand kit stall. As for cricket equipment Saffron Sports and our old friends, United Sports, will also be present, as will Natalie Harman from the Sports Injury Clinic at the Lord Butler Leisure Centre.

Club coaches, Nigel Tegg and Kevin Duers, will be running open coaching sessions between 11.30 and 12.30 for youngsters up to the age of 12.  This is for all members but also an opportunity to bring friends along to get an idea about what the summer will involve.  They will also offer free one2one sessions between 10:30 and 11:30 and between 12:30 and 1:30.  Places for these are limited so book early: please contact [email protected] to express interest.    We also hope to have a session from an Essex coach especially for girls – further details in next issue of Extra Cover.

Peter Thompson (personal fitness trainer, Saffron Tri) will also be offering cricket-specific fitness coaching between 12-2pm. Please email Peter on [email protected] to express interest in these sessions. Peter will also be offering ongoing cricket fitness sessions throughout the season on Tuesdays 5.30-6.30 pm (£3 per session).  See flier attached.

At 11am we will raise the flag on the new season!

At 1pm the 2nd XI will launch their season their new league, Tucker Gardner Division I, against Foxton.

Club representatives will also be able to advise on registration for new members. We will be sending out reminders and instructions for online registration and payment shortly.
