2020 Membership

This year the Covid-19 outbreak has put the club in an unprecedented position: in the absence of competitive cricket and any training programme for so much of the season, we felt we could not justify asking for subscriptions. This has, of course, substantially reduced our income, while we have still needed to pay some running costs.

More recently we have started to open up coaching and net use, under stringent conditions to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus (see below). We have been delighted with the uptake so far and the enthusiasm shown by those who completed our recent survey. We hope to offer coaching and training sessions over the summer. We may even have the possibility of cricket matches on the horizon. This will inevitably incur costs for the club.

When we had to cancel the club dinner in March, a number of members very kindly donated their ticket money. Some of those who had already paid their subscriptions before the season took off have also kindly offered to donate this money. And we have been very touched by the positive response to the suggestion in our survey that we should ask for donations this year.

The Annual General Meeting in November 2019 agreed the following subscription rates:

Senior men (playing): £75

Senior women (playing): £60

Family rate (including one playing adult): £150

Vice President: £50 (£75 couple)

U11 to U16 – £60

U8 to U10 – £45

U7 and below – £40

Rather than suggest that members pay a set proportion of these fees, which would not reflect people’s different circumstances, their ability or otherwise to take up any opportunities this year, and the possible unseen impacts of Covid-19 on individuals and families, we are instead inviting you all, members, friends and supporters, to make a voluntary donation. You may choose to use the usual subscription rates as a guide but this is by no means necessary. If you are using the nets or receiving any coaching or training from the club under our new arrangements, we would ask that you do make a donation to reflect this.

How to donate:

  • Please make your donation by BACS to Saffron Walden Cricket Club, sort code 20-74-05, account number 50784125, giving your surname as a reference.
  • If you are a taxpayer, and have not previously completed a Gift Aid form, we would ask you to do so now. This will enable us to claim an extra 25% of your donation from the government. You can download a form HERE and send a photograph or scan of the completed form to [email protected]

Thank you in advance for your generosity – and your continued support in so many ways.
