Club Secretary

Dear members, friends and supporters,

Our Honorary Secretary, Alison Mable, has announced her intention to stand down at the end of the 2023 season after 9 years in the role.  In her time as secretary the club has grown significantly in terms of members, particularly at junior level, and the legal framework for a Charitable Incorporated Organisation such as ours has also expanded (eg. data protection, safeguarding, health and safety, development planning ).  Alison has paid a key role in ensuring we set high standards in terms of our administration.

The club owes her an enormous debt of gratitude .  For me personally, if I have had any success as a chairman, it is in large part due to the team of volunteers who make up our Executive Committee and, in particular, Alison.  Thank you, Alison.

We would be delighted if we could recruit another volunteer for this role from our membership.  However, we recognise that this may require more than one volunteer to cover membership, communications (eg. our newsletter, Extra Cover), website, Clubmark compliance, servicing our two main committees (Executive Committee and Trustees) as well as other tasks that arise from time to time.

I would be very grateful if all members, friends and supporters could consider whether or not they could take on this role OR be part of an administrative team. You would become part of a large team of volunteers who help make this club the special club that it is. You will also get an invitation to the committee’s Christmas dinner!

Alison would be pleased to have a preliminary conversation with anyone interested, as would I. Contact us on [email protected]

I look forward to hearing from you!

David Barrs

Chairman
