Cricket Week – Friday 18th to Sunday 27th July

Sunday XI match

For the first time in many years we are fielding a Sunday X1.  The first match this coming Sunday will kick off our cricket week.  The Sunday XI will play Saffron Plantationers who played locally from the early 1980s until about 10 years ago.  We have a handful of fixtures this season but hope to grow the fixture list next season. Carnival Float

We will have a float in the Carnival Procession on Saturday 5th July and would like our younger players to be part of the event. Children should be brought to the float, which will be on Ashdown Road at the top of the common, by 1:45 at the latest, wearing full kit.  For details, contact Georgina Haupt [email protected]

Academy Family Curry Evening 23 July

With the support of the Rajdhani Indian Restaurant in Saffron Walden we would like to invite parents of Academy members, team coaches, managers and players to a curry evening on Wednesday 23 July.  Cost £20 per head. Rainbow Cricket Tournament on 11 July

We are delighted to announce the second Rainbow Cricket Tournament for under 10s hosted by Saffron Walden Cricket Club.   It was an enormous success last year and we want to build on it.  It was grant-funded last year but we have not been able to secure a similar grant this year.  We hope £10 per team will be an acceptable registration fee payable on the evening.  This year it will also form part of Read more…

Carnival of Nations – SWCC 6-a-side

As well as the Rainbow Cricket for younger players, there will be a Carnival of Nations 6-a-side for the adults – contact Andrew Arnold at [email protected].  Teams can be a group of friends, a local village club side, families.  The Anglo American Playing Fields have been reserved for the week and the matches will run throughout the week depending on the number of entrants.

Kit for sale this Saturday!

Gray Palmers will be selling the club kit range on Saturday (24th May) at the ground from 10.00am – 12.00 midday (shorts, skorts, shirts, traditional woollen sleeveless sweaters, caps, ties). This coincides with a 1st XI East Anglian Premier League match versus Vauxhall Mallards and, of course, the Sticky Wickets Breakfast Bar will be open.  Well worth a visit for all playing members young and old!
