It has been a good year for the Academy in the West Essex leagues. At the West Essex District Cricket Board presentation recently they collected the u15 Cup as well as the trophies for winning the u9 Terrier, u10 Terrier and u15 Leagues. Photo here
Huge congratulations to the teams who did so well in tournaments at the Essex County Ground this week. A team of u11 and u10s did really well in the Mini Matchplay tournament, with three wins in three games and all the boys contributing fully to the results. Calling all Academy players and their families – due to the Weekend of Music we are postponing the Academy Presentation until the following Friday 12 September. Do make a note of this new date in your diary – we will celebrate the achievements of the Academy for the 2014 season. 5.30 for 6pm. BBQ and bar.
Tickets for the Presentation Dinner on the 20th September are available on a first come first served basis at £20. Contact David Barrs by Thursday if you want to come.
We need old crockery for a stall on the fun day on September 13th – if anyone has any could they please let Sharon Willis know [email protected] – or bring it into the clubhouse. There will be a box near the trophy cabinet for it.
Popular local band The Blues Brothers Rhythm & Blues Revue Band will be playing a marquee show at Saffron Walden Cricket Club on Saturday 6th September. Tickets are due to go on sale later this week and the performance is open to all ages. This performance will be the final act of an exciting Blues and Rock weekend at the cricket club. Two more league wins for the Academy! Saffron Walden CC under 9’s have won the West Essex Terrier League. The team was unbeaten for the whole season. In all 24 players took part in the 8-a-side games over the season. Walden’s u16s achieved a first for the Club in reaching the 2014 final of the 40 over a side Trevor Bailey MatchPlay with another impressive win against Woodford Wells in the semi-final at Billericay Cricket Club, with more entries for the record books on the way in terms of a record opening partnership and five u15s in the side.
