BBC Essex at the Club

As some of you will know, BBC Essex featured Saffron Walden CC in their programme “Around the Wicket” on Saturday afternoon. New Cricket Nets

Many of you will be aware that our new net cage is now in use.  Thank you to all of those who donated or who helped in other ways to bring the new nets to fruition.  They will be officially opened by Sir Alan Haselhurst at 11am on Open Day – Saturday 23 April. The Club Open Day is a great opportunity to register for the season, pay subscriptions and get the admin out of the way before the season really gets under way. Club Dinner 2016

This year the Club Dinner will be on 22nd April, at the Golf Club. Tickets will cost £30, which includes a three course meal and live entertainment. Book now by emailing Sharon on [email protected] explaining how many tickets you would like, whether you have any dietary requirements and if there is anyone you would like to sit with. We really do need names, money and menu choices by Monday 4th April.

Your club needs you!

We have a number of volunteer vacancies which need filling urgently: Press Liaison Officer – a task that can be done from home.  Its purpose is to maximise coverage in the local press for both junior and senior teams.  Reports are written by team managers or captains and then submitted on a template for checking and forwarding to local newspapers.  Newspaper deadlines are usually Monday or Tuesday. Congratulations to our own Dan Thomas, who has just been awarded the Essex County CC “”Tom Gould Award”. The award is to “recognise an individual who always puts everything into their game, is willing to learn, plays with a smile and is an inspiration to others in the team”.
